This Week in Review
This week I have added a date search bar. Now I have to fix up the formatting, but I’m trying. If you couldn’t find the survey, please click it again. If you’re a Web designer, please volunteer an hour to help me fix up the website again.
The Boston July 4th is great, but if you’ve already done it, why not make the holiday an excuse to explore someplace new? This week I list 130 Independence Day celebrations, with more to come next week.
I hope you are having an awesome week. I hope you are having an awesome week. Now get out there and do something fun!

Somerville Family Fun Day & Fireworks |
Somerville, MA – Today I list 130 Independence Day events, and that’s just the ones that come early or happen in Massachusetts. Next week I’ll branch out to all New England. Let’s start close to home. In Somerville, Thursday night they’ll have fireworks and then a family festival on Saturday., Somerville, MA , – more |
Cambridge City Dance Party |
Cambridge, MA One of my favorite events of the year! I’ve been twice. It’s an outdoor block party with colored lights on City Hall. What better way to celebrate that the people own the government, not the other way around? 7-11pm. Massachusetts Avenue in front of City Hall. Seriously, you really need to go to this!, Cambridge, MA , more |
Marblehead Festival of Arts |
Marblehead, MA – Marblehead has a sand sculpture competition (6/30), a kite festival (6/30), and 7/4 events including a “Horribles Parade”and harbor illumination (which I think is flares) with fireworks at 8:45pm., Marblehead, MA , – more |
Acton’s Beach Party Blast |
Acton, MA Possibly Acton’s biggest event of the year, with reggae music, water games, a sandcastle contest, and a watermelon eating contest! 1-5pm., Acton, MA , more |
North Shore Pride Parade & Celebration |
Salem, MA It’s a first! The North Shore gets their own pride parade on Saturday, at 12pm, with a festival 1-5pm and an afterparty. It’s bound to be a gay time!, Salem, MA , more |
Love Letters: John and Abigail Adams |
Concord, MA Oh John! Oh Abby! Oh John, you’re the President — that makes me hot! Living history performers read these love letters of the former US President from Quincy., Concord, MA , more |
Moonlight Paddle on the Charles River |
Boston, MA – It’s a great place to pop the question, but if the answer is NO, then you’re kinda stuck on a canoe. Under the romantic moon. 7pm., Boston, MA , – more |
Opening Day at Frog Pond |
Boston, MA We’re open for wading! This small festival includes vendors, jugglers, live music, storytellers, and the ubiquitous face painting. 2012: 11am., Boston, MA , more |
Boston Harborfest |
Boston, MA – Boston Harborfest always offers something interesting. The trick is to ignore the stuff that happens all year (like guided tours, whale watches, and museums) and go for the special stuff. Check out the detailed schedule for a full list of events. Meanwhile, look for highlights here on the blog!, Boston, MA , – more |
