Chinatown August Moon Festival
Chinatown August Moon Festival what to do Boston events
Boston, MA
See cute kids doing martial arts and dancing on two outdoor stages! I’ve been to this — it was extremely crowded with vendors selling everything from strange Chinese gizmos to porn, but worth seeing! 10am-5pm. I think I prefer Chinese New Year, where lion dances go door to door eating lettuce and throwing fireworks.,
Main Street, Chinatown Boston, MA

India Day – Festival and Concert
India Day - Festival and Concert what to do Boston events
Boston, MA
I’ve been to this festival at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade in Boston. They have performers and a huge crowd with dozens of booths. Although it’s a little slow paced, it’s the only South Asian-themed event I know of in Boston, and definitely worth a trip. 3:30-8pm.,

Dominican Festival and Parade at Franklin Park
Dominican Festival and Parade at Franklin Park what to do Boston events

There’s also a carnival at Franklin Park with Domican, Haitian, and Jamaican food, music, and dance. At least, that’s my guess, because their website still says 2010 — although I confirmed this elsewhere. Insular communities often don’t post festival information because they assume that nobody outside cares. We do! Teach me creole and feed me jambalaya!,
Ramsey Park Boston, MA

New England Pirate Faire
New England Pirate Faire what to do Boston events

Arr!! I’ve seen this one and it’s small but fantastically fun. It’s about 5% the size of King Richard’s Faire but highly recommended. They have a dozen live actors portraying pirates and doing a play (in segments) that lasts all day, and an action-comedy show. There will be vendors of appropriately themed goods, with food and music. Sat-Sun 10am-5pm, rain or shine.,

Obstacle Course Race - Spartan Race what to do Boston events

There’s no way I want to participate, but do I want to watch? Hell yes! This wonderful park — which I’ve seen and recommend — is holding a BBQ for spectators to watch modern-age “Spartans” climb over, under, and through all manner of obstacles: fire, mud pits, barbed wire, and more. And they’ll have live music. Starts at 8am and goes all day.,
