| It’s been 50 years since Senegal won its freedom from France. I’ve never seen a West African event in New England before, so this is the Weird Event of the Week! There’s a restaurant called Teranga that is Primary Senegalese, but also has French, Vietnamese, Moroccan, and Ghanian influences. They’re having an all day festival this Sunday, from 11am to 10:30pm, with Senegalese dancing and live music. I’ve been to the restaurant — it’s upscale but rather than being snooty, it’s a place you can relax and call home for an evening. Best of all, the food is uncompromisingly authentic. By this I mean, nothing here is Americanized “”sweet and sour chicken””. You may not like everything, but you’ll definitely have a unique experience and discover something new. | If that’s just too geeky, join the young film lovers at the Young Filmmakers Competition. I don’t normally feature film fesivals, but the weather’s too cold for much outdoors, and a ton of filmmakers to meet and mingle with. The evening isn’t just a screening and awards show.
