Johnny’s List of Quirky Boston Events: 03/02/06

Spring still isn’t here, but a number of things are happening this week, finally.

Winter Restaurant Week, March 5-10 is basically a marketing gimmick, but may be a way to experience a pricey restaurant for less.
Comedian
Jerry Senfield visits the Wang Center on March 4th.
The largest festival for live roleplaying in the area is coming up.
Intercon, March 3-5 in Chemlsford. Live roleplaying is sort of like improv comedy, but sometimes it’s drama or sci-fi or horror genres instead. See website and sign up in advance for the games.
Also, check out
Spring Public Night at Wellesley College’s Whitin Observatory, March 3rd. In Wellesley. 7-9pm. Someone important will be giving a talk on the Cassini mission to Saturn. No RSVP needed; just show up. Note, their website is screwed up and does not show the date, but I’m on their mailing list, so it’s definitely happening. Call ’em.
Comedian
Wanda Sykes, March 3rd at the Orpheum Theatre.
MIT’s favorite a capella group is putting on the
MIT Chorallaries Bad Taste Concert, March 4th in Cambridge. MIT room 10-250. Arrive early for seating. 11pm. An interactive annual concert with jokes in poor taste and where the audience gets to throw toilet paper and act crazy.
The Bank of America Celebrity Series hosts
The Chieftains, March 11th. That’s really next week but since I know about it now and you need some time to buy tickets, why announce it late? I’ll try to do better about that.
Also it’s the annual
AAA Travel Show, March 3-5 in Foxboro. Admittedly it’s more of a marketing event than a festival. But aren’t you curious how must it costs to visit Grenada, Tivolo, and Botswana? Check out the various AAA discounts at http://www.aaa.com/aaa/240/sne/membership/tickets.html. (Hey! The Globetrotters are coming to town April 2nd. I’ll remind you later.)

Also, as I mentioned earlier, SPAMALOT is playing March 7 – April 15. See www.wangcenter.org.

This week’s bonus event, how about coming to my house and doing some Spring Cleaning? 🙂
