Happy Anniversary! It’s the 240th year since Bostonians introduced sea life to the wonders of Caffeine- or the Boston Tea Party for you history nuts. The event of the week is protesting British tax on tea! Nothing says, ‘Screw you guys,’ like turning the local harbor into a giant pot of Darjeeling, right? Watch the sun pour through two century old, possibly Native American in origin stone structures like that scene in ‘Raiders of The Lost Arc’. Boxing Day at the Old Manse

I’m not one to judge, but this looks really silly in the best way. Silly in the ‘Let me braid my armpit hair’ way. Silly in the ‘Oh I made this herbal tea using a centuries old cauldron and secrets herbs only I know about’. This event takes place at America’s ‘Stonehenge’, new Age-y types will be holding a lengthy solstice ritual, and if you’re into this kind of thing, or aren’t and want to have a couple of yucks, this event could be a good way to spend your solstice Ouija Board optional. 12-3pm. A Readers’ Theatre adaptation of ‘A Christmas Carol’ gives way to actual chestnuts roasting over an open fire and brass music. Gingerbread House Classes

This has a chef, A CHEF – who went to school for years, teaching you to make Gingerbread houses. That’s like Tom Brady teaching 4th grade gym class, folks. Santa Express Trains at Hobo Railroad

Santa’s Holiday Express at Conway Scenic Railroad

Polar Express

This event seems pretty adamant about the fact they’re the first ever ‘Polar Express’, that they’re really going to the North Pole, and when you get there, the main character from ‘The Polar Express’ will read the book about his Christmas journey to passengers in a special North Pole theater. Christmas Tours at the Gables

Holiday Tours in Salem are always fun, it’s such an eerie place. This tour takes you through the holiday decorated House of Seven Gables and provides a brief history of how Christmas has changed through the years. Aside: I got stuck in this house’s secret passage once and it almost became the House of Seven gables and a chubby 8th grader who should walk sideways through tight corners. 10am-5pm. Caroling with Julie Dougherty

Christmas at the Newport Mansions
